Bon Voyage!

I've decided to take the narcissistic plunge and "blog" about my imminent adventures in London. I'm not too skilled with the internets, but Google has a blog thing (they would). Anyway, today I leave for my "Culture of London: Past and Present" program. I'll be staying at Regent's College until July 1st. Hopefully this blog induces me to actually take pictures of my travels so I have something to show my family. And future-Sara.

I'm finally all packed and have been given detailed instructions on how to obtain a sim card for this fancy blackberry I now possess. I was cool with going without a phone, but because my dad works in the wireless industry he declared that "No daughter of mine will travel around Europe without a properly equipped international phone!" or something to that effect. Also my mother wants me to have it in case of an emergency. Especially after America killed Osama and all and we now await Al-Qaeda's retaliation. (Which reminds me, do a search for "Patriotic shirts" on Amazon in your spare time and look at the crazy graphic t-shirts riffing on the theme of Bin Laden's downfall. One had the Statue of Liberty holding his severed head aloft. Hrm.)  But yes, a Blackberry. I may be the only person in my age group who struggles with operating the device. Whatever, I'll learn it on the fly. Or not.

On the way to Dulles. Lincoln doesn't care that I'm leaving.
I've also had the outlets-are-different-there discussion. My mother took me shopping and we bought (correction: she bought) an adapter/converter (I didn't bother to learn the difference) which my dad then showed me how to use and told me not to plug any clocks into it. I'm still puzzling that one out. I pictured trying to jam an analog clock-face into a power outlet and started laughing. Maybe he meant a clock-radio.

I'm mostly done with the reading assignment for Monday. Hopefully I can finish the rest of The Secret Agent on my 7+ hour flight tonight...to LONDON! So excited!
